Current Status
- Wireless connection throughout most of school
- T1 hardwire connection in Library, Office and Room 106
- 30 wireless notebook computers and one printer in Library
- New Dell PCs ordered for every classroom
- Variety of old PCs, Macs and printers in classrooms
- Other hardware- 1 LCD projector, 1 scanner, 1 digital camera
- Very limited software
Recent Grant/Corporate/District Support:
- Grant funded Library automation hardware, LCD projector and 2 laser printers in 2004/05.
- Deloitte installed wireless system for school and donated 1 computer per class.
- SFUSD set up wireless notebook computers in the Library.
Current Priorities
- Hiring of Technology Consultant to integrate tech into curriculum
- Development of Technology Committee
- Tech Support (SFUSD, Corporate sponsors, parent volunteers)
- Possible scenarios for Tech Consultant
- Set up notebooks in Library 2x/week to work with all classes
- Set up notebooks in Library 1x/week to work with 3-5 classes only
- Set up 1 day in Library and 1 day rolling notebooks into classrooms
- Support computer centers in classrooms during Language Arts, etc.
5 year vision for technology:
- School Tech Plan aligned with SFUSD Master Plan (Content & Performance Standards for students)
- 5 day/week Tech Resource Teacher facilitating the use of tech throughout all curricular areas. Tech Resource Teacher is certified staff with advanced Tech and Curriculum training.
- In Library or mini-Lab setting: All classes will have access to online computers in Library with Tech Consultant. K-2 classes scheduled once/week for 45 minutes. 3-5 classes scheduled twice/week for 60 minutes. Additional times open for GATE, ELL and special projects.
- In classrooms: All classrooms will have at least 1 teacher workstation and 2-4 student workstations. Or Tech Consultant can roll notebooks in classrooms for whole class instruction. Students using tech throughout the school day to support learning (eg research, writing process, etc). For classroom instruction, use of LCD projector or large screen display monitor.
